NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two Norfolk Police officers were injured in a crash on Llewellyn Ave. Monday morning.
Medics took one officer to the hospital and rescue crews worked for more than an hour to free a second officer from the overturned police car.
The identities of the two officers, both men, will not be released until family is notified. Authorities say both officers suffered serious injuries and the officer that was extracted from the vehicle is in critical condition.
An unidentified witness to the crash said a tan car sped past their vehicle with several police in pursuit. The witness said they believe the police car crashed after trying to swerve around another vehicle. The car went off the road, rolling several times.
Authorities said the crash still is under investigation.
