NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – John Simpson is easy to spot when the undefeated Fort Dorchester Patriots take the field. The 6’4 offensive lineman lugs around nearly 300 pounds when he comes off the line of scrimmage.
The size has served the senior well. 247Sports.com ranks the North Charleston native as the 2nd best player in the Palmetto state. That honor alone should tell you the trench boss is well worth a roster spot in the 2016 U.S. Army All American game in San Antonio, Texas. Simpson received his jersey on Thursday, along with the honor of being named a finalist for South Carolina’s Mr. Football Award.
The other finalists are Chapin quarterback Logan Bailey, Dorman quarterback Collin Hill, Spartanburg running back Tavien Feaster, and Conway wide receiver Bryan Edwards.
When it comes to recruiting, Simpson lists offers from 11 different programs including Clemson & South Carolina.
