A parody PSA aired on Saturday Night Live over the weekend is prompting a strong reaction from both sides of the gun debate.
In the sketch, firearms are shown prominently during important moments in the lives of several people, including a romantic dinner and childbirth.
The video sparked a strong reaction on SNL’s social media pages. In a Facebook comment, John Charles said, “I thought this was offensive and portrayed all Americans as idiots. SNL has lowered the bar again.”
On the other side, Dan Meyer called the video a brilliant parody of American gun culture. Meyer continued, “The negligence within this gun culture is priceless. How else do you continue loving guns without ignoring the thousands of deaths every year?”
