Jesse Sapp, an inmate on death row for killing State Trooper, Jeffrey Johnson, in July of 2002 is dead.
Solicitor Scarlett Wilson has told News 2 that Highway Patrol told her that Sapp hanged himself in his jail cell at the Lieber Correctional Institution.
Sapp was convicted of murder after he shot and killed State Trooper Jeffrey Johnson. It all happened during a traffic checkpoint in Berkeley County back in 2002.
Sapp has been on death row ever since the conviction.
