Charleston, SC- Hundreds showed up to run the 6th Annual Avondale 5k in West Ashley Saturday and raise funds for a generous cause.
The charity race first got started in 2010 and is named after the Avondale neighborhood in West Ashley where it is held annually. The event raises money for the Charles Webb Center, a developmental daycare that provides services to children with special needs.
The center helps children develop their self-esteem, social, communication and preschool skills. The funds raised are used to purchase classroom equipment, supplies and food.
This year it was News 2’s Carolyn Murray who kick-started the race!
