HARRISBURG, SD – Harrisburg High School Principal Kevin Lein is being treated for a gunshot wound to the arm.
Authorities said a 16-year-old student fired a gun at the school Wednesday morning. Law enforcement said the injury was a flesh wound.
The school is on lockdown, and students are safe. The school district move students by bus to south Harrisburg Middle School.
Jennifer Koehler with the Harrisburg School District said the school remains on lockdown. She said parents and students will be turned away, and people should stay away from the school.
Harrisburg High School senior Jackson Garnes said the building was told to go into lockdown over the intercom. He said Principal Lein told students and faculty he was okay, as well.
