Police arrest suspects in armed robbery Of Wentworth Street business

CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at a Wentworth Street business.

At about 8:42 p.m., the victim was sitting in the rear of the store when a man entered through the front door and asked the victim the price of a pack of cigarettes.

As the victim walked toward the man and the front of the store, another man entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money. The victim was assaulted during the robbery and received minor injuries. The suspects took money from the victim and left.

Juwan Maurice Brown, 18, of Logan Street, is charged with armed robbery, assault and battery 1st degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Akeem Theodore Simmons, 25, of North Grimball Road, is charged with armed robbery and assault and battery 1st degree.  Both men were being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
