Driver Arrested for Driving Without License After Accident Involving Motorcyclist

LADSON, SC – Charleston County Dispatchers say at 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, they received a call about a traffic accident at Highway 78 and Ladson Road.

North Charleston Police, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, and Charleston County EMS responded to the scene.

Officials tell News 2 a motorcyclist involved in the accident was not wearing a helmet and was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries after the driver of a Ford Taurus turned in front of the motorcycle causing a collision.

The victim was transported to MUSC in serious condition. The driver of the car involved in the crash, Zulma Vasquez-Gonzalez, is in good condition but was also taken to the hospital.

Officers arrested Zulma Vasquez-Gonzalez for driving without a SC Driver’s License and for failing to yield to the right-of-way. A bond hearing is scheduled for September 17 at 2:00 p.m.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
