Burke Bulldogs to play home games at Johnson Hagood Stadium

Heavy rain and its proximity to the marsh has made Burke High School's Stoney Field unfit for players.

CHARLESTON, SC – The Burke High School Bulldogs will play the remaining home games of the season at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium.

Heavy rain over the past few weeks and the proximity of Stoney Field to the marsh has made the use of the field for upcoming games unlikely. The District prepared to host games at Ravenel Stadium in West Ashley, but the
Citadel is a better option for both players and fans.

“The Citadel’s support for Burke High School football doesn’t go unnoticed,” said Dave Spurlock, Athletic Director for CCSD. “The players, families, and fans alike, all appreciate our community partner and neighbor stepping up
to make the use of this stadium a reality. This is a great opportunity to play on a college-level field and I know the team is up for it.”

Burke plays Lake Marion on Friday, September 18 and will host Academic Magnet next Thursday, September 24 at the 21,000-seat stadium.

While the use of Johnson Hagood Stadium is temporary, CCSD is working with the City of Charles
