Want to get away from it all? Move to these 15 towns in South Carolina

Sometimes you want to get away from it all. The traffic problems and the lines at the grocery store could be enough for you to throw your hands up.  The people at OnlyInYourState.com has complied a list of possible “runaway” sports that might be just up your alley.

Olar, SC

It’s a little dot on map that most people have never heard of unless they live there or close by. Population is around 300 people on a good day if everyone is home, but Barnwell and Denmark are close by and Orangeburg is just a bit down the road.

Hilda, SC

Just outside of Barnwell, Hilda has a little more than Olar, but not much more. In any case, Barnwell is only about 5 minutes away and has a lovely little downtown area as well as cozy and comfortable grocery stores instead of megamarts.

Lake City, SC

Lake City

Lake City is a small town just about 20 minutes from Florence. It’s a great place to get away, but not too far away. Florence has about everything that one could ever need.

Ninety Six, SC

Ninety Six

It’s a wonderful place to move to if you want a strong community and great people who strive to make it a great place to live.

Ruby, SC

Ruby sounds awfully nice doesn’t it? It’s just about 3 miles outside of Chesterfield so, even if you want to get far away from everything there’s still a place just down the road to get what you need. By the way, that is their town hall.

Due West, SC

Due West sits in Abbeville County and is a really lovely place if you’re looking for smaller town charm.

Andrews, SC

Just small enough to be small town and big enough to give you a great place to live. There’s entertainment here without huge mall traffic jams.

Clover, SC

Just south of the North Carolina border and not too far from York, sits Clover which was named one of South Carolina’s prettiest and most charming towns.

Hardeeville, SC

No, you’re not seeing things. That’s a pink elephant there and Hardeeville is just as rare. It’s far enough away from everything, but close enough to a larger town that it won’t take you all day long to get there.

Honea Path, SC

Honea Path

Honea Path is known as the little town with the big heart and claims that it’s South Carolina’s best kept secret. If you want a good community and a quiet, peaceful life than move here.

Inman, SC

Inman rests in Spartanburg County and is an awesome place to move to if you’re looking to get away from it all.

Manning, SC

Really, if you moved here you wouldn’t have to go anywhere else. There’s approximately 4,000-5,000 people here that are some of the friendliest you’ll meet. The town also boasts trails and recreational areas such as Lake Marion.

Seabrook Island, SC

Seabrook Island

Seabrook is definitely the place where you can go and get away from the city. You’ll smell the fresh sea air, roam the untamed lands, and barely hear a car.

Society Hill, SC

Society Hill
Society Hill is quite small, but it’s an ideal place if you’re looking to get away from the big city.

Yemassee, SC

Yemassee lies in the heart of the Lowcountry inside of Beaufort County. You can’t go wrong moving here. You can always live here and work in Beaufort. It’s not that far of a drive.
