ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — The University of South Carolina football team is hitting the road this week, and so is Cocky’s Reading Express.
The university’s mascot-led literacy program is celebrating the beginning of the football season on Thursday with a trip to visit students in York County.
Cocky and student literacy leaders are starting off the morning with a visit to children at Independence Elementary in Rock Hill. In the afternoon, they’re also taking a trip to York to read to students at Cotton Belt Elementary.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Cocky’s Reading Express.
The Gamecocks open the football season Thursday night with a game in Charlotte, North Carolina, against the University of North Carolina.
