Unofficial Democratic Primary Election results for SC Senate District 45

It’s been nearly 2 1/2 months since nine people were killed inside their church, Mother Emanuel AME in Charleston. It left a gap in the hearts of many, and an empty seat in the Senate, with the loss of Senator Clementa Pinckney.
A special Democratic Primary election took place on Tuesday, September 1 to fill the late Senator’s seat. There are 11 democrats and 2 republicans vying for the seat.

Kenneth F Hodges and Margie Bright Matthews will have a runoff on September 15. The winner of the runoff will face Republican Alberto Fernandez in the special election set for October 20.
