Fatal Shooting in North Charleston, Suspect Arrested

North Charleston Police Department responded 2010 Gumwood Boulevard at 12:08 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 for reports of a person shot.

When Officers arrived at the scene, they found a black male in the road suffering from gunshot wounds in front of 2010 Gumwood Blvd. There were multiple people standing around the victim.

Officers performed chest compressions on the victim until EMS arrived and transported him to MUSC where he later died. The victim, identified as Jean Jacques, 28, died from two gunshot wounds to the torso.

According to witnesses, the victim was a passenger in a van that arrived when the suspect approached the driver’s side of the van, followed by an altercation. The suspect reportedly fired into the van striking the victim. The victim then exited the vehicle and feel to the ground. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied a short distance away.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Issac Deas of Ashley Hall Plantation Road in West Ashley. Deas was found at his residence with a Rossi .357 revolver along with a second firearm after police acquired a search warrant. The guns were collected as evidence.He has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
