Library Book Sale, keeping Cynthia Hurd’s Legacy Alive

A non-profit organization called “Charleston Friends of the Library” will host Charleston County’s main library book sale, to continue the legacy of Cynthia Hurd.

Hurd was killed in the Mother Emanuel shooting, on June 17, 2015.

She served 31 years as a librarian in the Charleston County public Library System.

The Mother Emanuel shooting happened just a few days before the annual main library book sale, and in honor of Hurd, all 16 branches closed down following the attack.

The starts Saturday, August 29 and runs through Monday, August 31.

Used books, DVD’s and CD’s will be available for purchase at the main library located at 68 Calhoun Street from 9am-5pm on Saturday, 2-4pm on Sunday and 9am-4pm on Monday.
