Music Scholarships available to Lowcountry students

As the Folly Beach Jazz Festival prepares for its second annual festival this Fall, festival organizers today announced the formation of several scholarship opportunities available to students seeking to participate in 2016 Summer Jazz Camps.

Interested students in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties are invited to apply through their band/music directors. The scholarships are available to students 14-20 years of age with two years of music study.

Students selected for the scholarships will be invited to perform at this year’s Folly Jazz Festival on November 7th and 8th.

Scholarship offered are as follows:

* One week open level jazz camp
(Leonard School of Music Summer Jazz Camp)
Two scholarships available for 7th – 9th graders

* One week high school jazz camp
(Charleston Southern University Summer Jazz Camp)
One scholarship available for 9th -12th graders

* One week jazz camp
(USC Aiken Summer Jazz Camp) with housing
Two scholarships available for 7th ­12th graders

* One week jazz camp
(Hilton Head Jazz Camp)
One scholarship available for 7th ­12th graders

Requirements are as follows:
All students must have been playing for at least two years.
Video submission of one of the following: (INSTRUMENTAL OR VOCAL) Now is the Time, It Had to Be You, Satin Doll, Summertime, Autumn Leaves, Bye Bye Blackbird, St. Thomas, When I Fall In Love, Song For My Father, All of Me
Essay ­ 500 words: Where Do You See Yourself in 10 Years?
