(WTNH) – The Social Security Administration has released their list of popular baby names for 2014.
Topping the list for boys names for the second year in a row is the name Noah. For girls, it is Emma that took the top spot for the first time since 2008.
According to CNN, Noah gained popularity in 2005 after Ryan Gosling stole hearts as Noah in “The Notebook.” Emma debuted on the list in 2002, around the same time that actress Emma Watson debuted as Hermoine in the “Harry Potter” series.
Other notable mentions on the top ten list is James on the boy’s list and Charlotte on the girl’s list.
CNN notes that James has finally made its return to the list at number nine after being at the top in the 1940s and 1950s. Charlotte has appeared on the list at number ten for the first time ever and is expected to gain even more popularity due to the birth of Princess Charlotte earlier this year.
Speaking of Brits, CNN reports that Oliver and Amelia are the most popular baby names in England and Wales.
