USS Yorktown Celebrates WWII Veteran on National Aviation Day

On Wednesday, August 19, the U.S.S. Yorktown at Patriots Point will host two special screenings of the film, “Flying the Feathered Edge: The Bob Hoover Project” in celebration of National Aviation Day.

The movie screenings will take place in the Smokey Stover Theater at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The price to see the film will be the normal museum admission price.

“Flying the Feathered Edge: The Bob Hoover Project” honors WWII Vet and aviation legend, Robert A. “Bob” Hoover. The film tells his life story as an Air Force fighter pilot, experimental test pilot, and airshow pilot.

There are some famous cameos in the film. Actor and pilot, Harrison Ford, air show legend, Sean D. Tucker, Neil Armstrong, Carroll Shelby, Dick and Burt Rutan, Clay Lacy and other experts in the aerospace field are featured.
