COLLETON COUNTY, SC — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a deadly crash in Colleton County.
On Wednesday, August 19 at 5:49am, the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala lost control on a curve in the 8900 block of Charleston Highway east of Featherbed Road. The driver crossed the center line, over-corrected and struck the driver of a Pontiac Bonneville on the driver’s side.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue say 51-year-old Charles Wilson, the driver of the Pontiac Bonneville was trapped and died as a result of injuries received during the crash.
We’re learning the driver of the Impala was critically injured and was also trapped in her vehicle. She was taken out of the vehicle, and medics transported her to the Trauma Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Charleston Highway was blocked near the wreckage and was closed for nearly five hours. Officials with the SC Highway Patrol says charges are pending.
