North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced Monday that Zack Fisch has been hired as the club’s new Director of Communications and Broadcasting.
“We are pleased and excited to welcome Zack to the Stingrays,” said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. “Zack has a very impressive resume and I believe he is going to fit into our organization perfectly.”
Fisch comes to the Stingrays from the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he served as the team’s Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations. Over the past three seasons with Dubuque, Fisch served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Fighting Saints and also managed the team’s public relations, social media accounts and team website. Fisch was a large part of the team’s school program, and also worked with local partners on season and group ticket sales in addition to corporate partnerships.
While with the Fighting Saints, Fisch broadcast Dubuque’s Clark Cup Championship win in 2013, a Bronze Medal finish at the 2013 Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia as well as the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. He was also twice selected to host the USHL’s Draft Show in 2013 and 2014.
Prior to his time in Dubuque, Fisch broadcast men’s and women’s hockey at St. Cloud State, which earned him the distinction of being named a Top 10 College Sportscaster by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America in 2012. Fisch has also worked for the Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL, and the Rochester Honkers and St. Cloud Rox baseball teams in the Northwoods League.
“I’m beyond excited to advance my career into professional hockey and join the South Carolina Stingrays, one of the ECHL’s premier organizations,” said Fisch. “After three fantastic years in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, I was ready for a new challenge, and from my first conversation with Stingrays President Rob Concannon, I knew that I had found an opportunity with a first-class organization that boasts a history of success on and off the ice. I have a tough task filling the shoes of Joseph Zakrzewski, but I am excited to bring my own brand of passion and excitement to the broadcast. My wife and I have heard nothing but good things about the Stingrays and the Lowcountry. I’m already counting the days until puck drop.”
Fisch succeeds Zakrzewski as the Stingrays’ Director of Communications and Broadcasting after Zakrzewski accepted an identical position with the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League (AHL) last week.
