(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Thomas Elliot Aspinwall (DOB: 1984) of Charleston, S.C. on one count involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest.
Investigators say Aspinwall received explicit photos of a minor engaged in sexual activity.
A search warrant was obtained and executed on Aspinwall’s cell phone. He was arrested on August 5, 2015 and charged with one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment count.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
