CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Operation Move-Out is getting under way once again in Charleston.
The program is held each year around Aug. 1 as hundreds of apartment leases expire and students and other new renters move in.
The effort begins on Thursday when tenants who are moving out can begin leaving trash items on the curb. Then, through Sunday, code enforcement officers and volunteers from Keep Charleston Beautiful identify locations where trash has been left for pickup by trash trucks.
Volunteers from Keep Charleston Beautiful will also clean up loose trash from the curbsides. And fliers are being distributed to tenants showing how to properly dispose of trash and where they can donate used household items.
