SCHP: Two people dead following head-on collision in West Ashley

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a deadly crash in West Ashley.

L/Cpl Hannah Wimberly with the Highway Patrol says the head-on collision happened on Highway 61 and Middleton Place on Wednesday, July 29 at 4:46pm.

We’re learning that the driver of a 2001 Toyota Camry was headed north on Highway 61 toward Summerville, when he crossed the center line striking the driver of a Mazda head-on. Two passengers in the Mazda was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital. We’re told the passengers are stable.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office identified driver of the Camry as Kenneth Stanley, 57, of Hanahan. Officials say once the next-of-kin is notified, the identity of the driver of the Mazda will be released.
