SCDOT: Use caution during construction on US 17 in Pawley’s Island

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) urges motorists to use caution while traveling on US Route 17 from Baskerville Drive to Waverly Drive in the Pawley’s Island area.

Construction of a raised landscaped median is on-going and will alter the usual traffic patterns. The project is intended to improve access management and traffic congestion along US Route 17. The goal is to preserve the safety and efficiency of the corridor. Drivers are encouraged to pay careful attention to the newly installed signage and pavement markings, especially while construction is in progress. Changes will occur on a daily basis as the work takes place nightly.

The next major milestones for the project will be the installation of new traffic signals at Hotel Drive and Lachicotte Drive. In addition, US Route 17 will be resurfaced within the project limits. SCDOT anticipates that major construction activities will be completed by the fall of 2015.
