The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Jamez Deondre Kelly of North Charleston for the July 24th shooting in Moncks Corner, in which three people were shot, including two juveniles.
The shooting occurred on Nelson Ferry Road after a birthday party at a residence on Mitton Road in the Moncks Corner area of Berkeley County. As victims left the birthday party, they walked down Nelson Ferry Road and a red four-door Honda drove down Nelson Ferry Road and opened fire on the victims.
Two of the three shooting victims identified Kelly. He was located at Hidden Oaks Apartments on Otranto Road in North Charleston by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force agents, and North Charleston Police Department Officers. Kelly already had an active arrest warrant for armed robbery. During the arrest, two handguns were seized and a second juvenile was arrested on unrelated weapons charges.
As far as the victims of the shooting, they are expected to fully recover from their wounds.
The suspect is being charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and one count of criminal conspiracy.
“I am thankful for the tireless work of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Marshals Task Force in making this apprehension,” said Sheriff Lewis. “Along with the U.S. Marshalls and the North Charleston Police Department, we had a true team effort – working around the clock since Saturday to put this alleged dangerous criminal behind bars very quickly. We hope to announce additional arrests in this case soon.”
