Police, DHEC remove hazardous materials from North Charleston home

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Tuesday shortly after 2 p.m., members of the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control contacted the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and requested that the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Unit respond to 8039 Nova Court to assist with the removal of hazardous material  from the residence of 8039 Nova Court in North Charleston.

According to our bomb technicians, the hazardous material is described as an assortment of chemicals that could be unstable if not handled properly.

Presently, the chemicals doesn’t pose a threat to the nearby area; however, the material will be removed from the residence and destroyed.

The Sheriff’s Office is working in concert with DHEC and North Charleston Police Department in this incident.
