CARTA Public Hearing: proposing changes to save $800K

On Tuesday, July 28, CARTA will hold a public hearing on possible bus route and fare structure changes.

Route 20, route 105, route 201 and route 213 will face potential changes. The CARTA holiday schedule is also on the agenda to be discussed. The proposed fare increase would be .25 on all fares, resulting in a 14% increase on all pass and ticket sales.

The proposed adjustments are projected to produce more than $800,000 in savings and new revenue.

The public meeting will be held in an open house format in the third floor Buist Room of North Charleston City Hall at 6:00 P.M. with a project presentation at 7:00 P.M. Attendees will have a chance to speak one-on-one with CARTA staff about the changes and submit written comments.

There will be a second public meeting held downtown in the Gaillard Auditorium on Thursday, July 30 at 6:00 P.M.
