COLUMBIA, SC – Family members of the nine people who were shot and killed in a Charleston church plan to attend a concert that will benefit two charities.
Grammy Award winner Tye Tribbett said in a news release that he’s donating a portion of the proceeds from the “Hate Won’t Win” concert Thursday night in Columbia to Mother Emanuel Hope Fund and the Low Country Ministries-Reverend Pinckney Fund.
Tribbett says the father and stepmother of Rev. Clementa Pinckney are among those who will attend. Pinckney was a state senator and minister of Emanuel A.M.E. Church when he was killed June 17 at the church. The parents of victim Tywanza Sanders also will attend the concert at The Medallion Center and Travis Greene.
Tribbett has won two Grammys, including one for best gospel album.
