Orangeburg man charged with obtaining money under false pretenses

Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division today arrested an Orangeburg man in connection with obtaining money from people to place into certificates of deposit which were not done.

Randy Leroy Geter, 50, of Orangeburg, S.C., was charged with breach/obtaining signature of property under false pretenses, value $10,000 or more, a felony which carries a penalty upon conviction of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500.

Geter was booked at the Bamberg County Detention Center.

The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Department.

The case will be prosecuted by the Second Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
