One person dead after shooting at nightclub in Kingstree

Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a shooting at a nightclub in Kingstree.

Investigator Alex Edwards with the WCSO says on Saturday, July 4 at about 4:00 a.m., Williamsburg County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting incident at Mingles Night Club on Williamsburg County Highway North in Kingstree.

We’re told when officials arrived, authorities found a deceased male, later identified as Ernie Shay Burgess, 30, lying in the parking lot. Investigators say Anthony Quinn Nero, 28, of Olanta, and the victim had a dispute in the parking lot which resulted in gunshots being fired in the parking lot.

Anthony Nero, Troy Frierson, 29, of Lake City, and Raheem Joseph McCrea, 29, of Kingstree, were arrested a short time later and were identified as the group responsible for Burgess’ murder.

Nero is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Troy Frierson is charged with accessory before the fact to a felony and accessory after the fact of a felony A, B, C or murder. Raheem McCrea is charged with accessory after the fact of a felony A, B, C or murder.

All three men were booked at the Williamsburg County Detention Center.

Authorities say additional charges are still possible.
