Authorities search for Orangeburg County man who failed to register as sex offender

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who failed to register as a sex offender.

Authorities say James Parton, 67, was due to register with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office in May. Parton’s last known address is in Cope.

According to court records, Parton was convicted in 2006 in the State of Virginia under state code 18.2-63, having carnal knowledge of minor.

An investigation by the OCSO has revealed that Parton may have left the area. Several attempts to locate Parton were unsuccessful.
