Storm Team 2 is forecasting severe weather to become likely today with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes possible.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Lowcountry through 6:00 PM.

“This is one of those situations where we need to pay careful attention to the wind damage threat,” said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers just after News 2 Midday. “Our atmosphere is primed to produce potentially significant wind damage in some of these stronger storms that could cause not only tree damage but structural damage as well.”

The greatest threat for severe weather will arrive between 1 PM and 6 PM today.
