News 2 tours new CCSD schools to see if the construction is money well spent

It is your $230 million dollars and News 2 got a peek into what that paid for.  We took our camera on a tour of several of  the schools for The Charleston County School District to see if it’s money well spent.

The schools are going up all over the Lowcountry. All of the work is being paid for by the 2010 sales tax referendum.
In Mt. Pleasant there is growing excitement about Laing Middle School and Jennie Moore Elementary School.

“I’m excited”, Dallas Gailey said. “My biggest thing is I like to see the kids move into the new school,” Gailey added

We’re learning the district has built 40 schools new schools and demolished 26 schools.  District officials say with those changes, $600 million dollars worth of maintenance will be eliminated.
