A Jackson, Mississippi Police Officer is recovering from a head injury after his patrol car was hit Monday, June 8.
NBC affiliate WLBT-TV reports unnamed 10 year patrol officer’s cruiser was plowed into by a van being chased by a Jackson State University police officer. The crash caused the his patrol car to hit a utility pole, splitting it. .
According to witnesses, a man in a white shirt jumped from the crashed caravan and ran. The van lost a front right wheel.
“He was thrown from the drivers seat to the passenger seat and his head hit the window and his head shattered his passenger seat window,” says witness Ruby Evans. “The police officer and whoever it was they ran.”
The police department says the person who ran from the scene has not been caught yet.
