Bond granted to man in connection to 2015 Mothers Day shooting

North Charleston, SC (WCBD)- Earlier today, Latrel Hamilton, who turned himself in in connection to a shooting on Mothers Day in 2015, faced a judge in bond court.

The judge told Hamilton that he was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The granted a surety bond totaling $450,000: $100,000 for each charge of attempted murder and $50,000 for possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Latrel Hamilton turned himself in today on charges related to the 2015 shooting on Mothers Day on Ashley Phosphate Road involving murder victim, Kadena Brown.

21-year-old Hamilton faces four counts of attempted murder for the shooting incident that killed Brown, he is now the 6th person to be charged in this incident. Hamilton will be arraigned in Charleston County Bond court sometime on Saturday.

Two more suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of Kadena Brown on Mother’s Day, May 10th in North Charleston. 19 year old Derrontae P. Holmes of Darlington Avenue in Charleston turned himself in at the Detention Center on Tuesday evening, May 19th.

Holmes is charged with murder; four counts of attempted murder; and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Charmani Keperiche Shark-McDonald, 20, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in this case. Both are scheduled to appear in bond court on Wednesday morning, May 20th.

North Charleston police officers arrested 20 year old Richard D. Simmons of Poplin Street in North Charleston, in connection with the murder of Kadena Brown on Mother’s Day 05/10/15. Simmons was located outside of the Rental Car Pavilion at the Charleston International Airport and taken in to custody. He is charged with murder; four counts of attempted murder; and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. A bond hearing is expected to take place Saturday evening. According to police, Simmons was one of several subjects inside of the vehicle that shots were fired from killing Ms. Brown.

Earlier this week, a 16 year old juvenile was arrested and charged with murder; four counts of attempted murder; and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently in the custody of the DJJ.

In addition, Nigela Tamika Brown was arrested on Thursday afternoon (5/14/15) and charged with Obstruction of Justice. Police say Brown willfully provided false and misleading statements to investigators regarding the whereabouts of the 16 year old juvenile subject who was eventually charged with murder. The investigation is ongoing.
