It’s been a long and exhausting day, very typical of overseas travel. Our day was unfortunately lengthened due to a plane issue as we were taking off from JFK heading to Milan.
We don’t know exactly what happened, but we do know it caused us to double back to JFK, where we waited hours for the plane to be checked out to determine if we could fly or not. It was finally determined to be safe and ready, and over the big pond we went.
It was an 8 hour trip, enough time for us to catch some sleep (or try to sleep) listen to Darius Rucker’s True Believers a few times, and watch movies like Frozen (great movie by the way) and Dallas Players Club.
We arrived in Milan about 6 hours after our original itinerary, so it was on to plan B. That meant a stop at our hotel in Padua (Hotel Plaza), and the on to a fantastic dinner at Restaurant Antico Brolo Padova. Good thing it was in walking distance, because we all needed to walk a bit after the fantastic meal of pasta, chicken, salad, bread, and dessert. Not sure I am going to fit in my suits after this trip is all said and done!
We have a great group with us, who have been as patient as can be with all of the curve balls thrown our way so far. We are looking forward to a day in Venice on day 3 (Friday, April 10th) Bruno is our Italian tour guide, and Diane is leading the way for as our tour director from Holiday Vacations. Plenty of pictures to come from the beautiful country of Italia!
