Gas leak between King and St. Phillip Streets secured

California declares massive gas leak sealed after 16 weeks

Authorities have secured the gas leak that caused road closures in downtown Charleston Monday afternoon.

Officials say King Street will be reopened shortly.

Monday crews with the City of Charleston Fire Department responded to a gas leak downtown near King and St. Phillip Street.

According to authorities the damage to the gas line is not as large as originally believed. The road closures were reduced to King between Wolfe and Ann and Morrison from King to St Phillip.
