When television news manager Evelyn Fernandez heard about CoolSculpting she was immediately interested.  The wife and mother of 2, who worked more than 10 hours a day outside the home had done everything to try to get rid of stubborn belly fat.

“I make a point to go to the gym. I go to Crossfit and go run whenever I can.  And I eat healthy,”  Evelyn said.

Tonya Fowlkes of The Lowcountry Plastic Surgery Center says CoolSculpting, an FDA-cleared, patented procedure, uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally freezing them to the point of elimination.

“We use cooling technology to chill the fat cells and freeze the fatty acids in fat cells so after one treatment you are able to get rid of 20 percent of the fat cells in any given area.”

Only fat cells are frozen. Those fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body.

Unlike a lot of other procedures, CoolSculpting takes one hour.  Evelyn underwent the procedure during her lunch hour.  Because there is no surgery, needles, or drugs, she went straight back to the office.

“I had no pain whatsoever, just a little numbness”

After 8 weeks, Evelyn says see a noticeable reduction of fat.

“I don't normally weigh myself … I worry about how my pants feel and that doesn't exist anymore,”  Evelyn said.

Fowlkes says it takes a few months to fully realize the effects, mainly because it takes that long for your body to naturally dispose of the fat cells.  She says Evelyn will continue noticing changes for several more months.

“I had my post check up last week and took some pictures and the side profile used to be you have that little bulge there, and now it is just kind of straight which is awesome!”  Evelyn said.

And if she maintains normal diet and exercise, your long-term results should remain stable.
